October Is Polish Heritage Month

October is Polish American Heritage Month, and the Polish American Librarians Association invites librarians to join the celebration! Libraries can participate by mounting displays or scheduling programs and by advertising them online and in the community.

A special edition of Polish American Journal is being created and will offer an opportunity to send greetings to  Polonia all across America through an ad (deadline September 17). PAJ editor Mark A. Kohan said in a letter to “Friends of Polonia” that “through your patronage, we are able to bring American Polonia a paper it can be proud of, as it is our mission to keep alive the traditions which define us. Every month we publish the good news about Poles and Americans of Polish descent who make a difference in the world today.”

For links to numerous online programming resources, librarians can consult “Great Resources for Polish Americans” on the PALA website. Visit the PAJ website and request a free sample of the newspaper.
