Join us at the Polish American Librarians Association Annual Meeting, April 28 at Loyola University, Chicago. A rich and diverse program is scheduled and will include: keynoter Marek Sroka, Associate Professor, Library Administration & Librarian, University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana, speaking on the American Library Association’s role in the reconstruction of Polish library collections in the aftermath of World War II; a panel discussion with Professor Neal Pease, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and Professor Keely Stauter-Halsted, University of Illinois at Chicago, chaired by Professor Bozena McLees, Loyola University, on the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence; discussion and preview of a new documentary from filmmaker Rafal Muskala (creator of The Fourth Fourth Partition) titled A Night on Milwaukee Avenue, which focuses on Polish Chicago nightclubs in the 70’s and 80’s.
